Studio Policy for Gracekeys Piano Studio 2014-15
*UPDATED SCHEDULE FOR 2015-2016 WILL BE POSTED SHORTLY*
Tuition information will be shared at the initial interview meeting/audition. There are 9 regular lesson months from September 8, 2014-June 30, 2015. Summer schedule will be treated separately.
Tuition rate is a flat amount per month throughout the year, regardless of number of weeks that month. This info will be shared at our initial meeting. There are 39 total lessons scheduled from September-June, and holidays already have been excluded. Tuition is due at the first lesson of the month or a late fee of $10 will apply. Book costs are the responsibility of the student and will be billed if I provide books. Lesson fee includes my taxes, membership dues for professional organizations, business admin, and continuing education for myself.
Missed Lessons: Please notify me via text message as soon as you know you will miss a lesson. If you are sick by school’s standards, please do not come to lessons. Make-up lessons might be scheduled as a courtesy, but will not be guaranteed. If I need to cancel a lesson, I will offer a fair solution. About once a quarter, a theory or performance class will be offered on Saturday mornings. These sessions may also be used as a make up lesson.
General: Please be prepared with all your books, binder and assignment book and show up to lessons on time. Extra time will not be given for late arrival. Parents should drop off students for lessons – observing is optional up to once a month, and not recommended for most lessons as it often affects the dynamic of the lesson for the student. Sibling students may choose to arrive after their brother/sister, or quietly do homework or read at the table without distracting the lesson. Please trim fingernails appropriately. Anticipated studio performances happening in December and May.
Remember, it’s always best to do your first practice session within 24 hours of the lesson while the concepts are fresh; it's proven that your brain will retain new concepts best this way, and you'll have better results for the rest of the week. Specific goal setting each time you practice really helps too. I will work with you to help set goals and a practice routine that works for your child. When kids learn problem solving through piano studies, it's a beautiful thing!
